March - Day 13

Numbers 31-32 - God's requirement to wipe out the Midianites completely harsh, but it was because he knew they would lead Israel to sin against God by worshipping false gods.  Israel had failed in this way before.  When dealing with sin in our own lives, we need to completely remove the things that tempt us to sin.  

Psalm 60 - With God's help we will do mighty things.  He will fight for us.  

Matthew 25:14-30 - Jesus compares the kingdom of heaven to a master who goes on a trip and leaves money for his servants to manage.  The kingdom of heaven is a spiritual kingdom that Jesus introduced to us and that is here now.  Everything we have (time, talents, resources) comes from God.  He wants us to invest what he has given us to build his kingdom here and now rather than waste it our opportunity to build God's kingdom.

Romans 8:18-39 - What we go through now is nothing compared to what we will experience one day when Jesus comes back.  The Holy Spirit in us is a taste of what is to come and gives us strength in our suffering.  Holy Spirit helps us as we pay and gives us confidence that nothing will ever separate us from God's love.
