November Day 3

Ezekiel 9-12 - God spared the righteous remnant who grieved over the sin of their nation.  God continued to use Ezekiel to warn of the coming judgment.  He used Ezekiel to illustrate what would happen, and gave him messages to deliver as well. 

Job 3- Job’s message changes from praising God to questioning why God gave him life that was filled with pain.  At this point, his pain begins to cause him to question why.  In this passage, it does not tell us that Job did not sin in what he said as it had been said before.  Pain can cause us to draw closer to God for comfort and help or it can be used by the enemy to create a wedge between us and God.  In those moments when life hurts, we must learn to draw close to God and trust his goodness. 

John 8:1-11 - The religious leaders were trying to use this woman’s sin to trap Jesus.  This seems like a trap from the beginning because the man who sinned isn’t present.  Regardless, the religious leaders were demanding Jesus “take a stand” against this sexual sin.  Instead, he confronted their hypocrisy by saying that anyone with no sin could throw the first stone, meaning only the sinless are fit to judge.  Jesus was the only sinless one and one day he will judge.  In the moment, he offered grace to the woman, but also truth.  He told her to stop sinning, meaning he acknowledged her sinful behavior without condemning her.  God does the same for us.  He accepts us, but hate sin because it hurts us.  

2 Peter 2:1-9 - God will one day judge sin and only those who have turned to him will escape it.  Those who trust in Jesus should feel the same way about sin that God does.  Here God reminds us that he delivers the righteous remnant.  Stay faithful.
